Your chosen brief is achievable and fits your critical investigation very well. The ‘Netflix original’ angle is great and you’ve picked a couple of very good examples to research. I’m a little concerned that there are no notes or observations from your research but I’m confident you will have these notes somewhere. There is no requirement from AQA to submit any research or planning but there is absolutely no way to reach the top level (“approaching professional standards”) without meticulous planning and research.
The challenge with a film opening like this is technical – things like focus (use the 50mm lens to achieve professional-grade cinematography) and recording professional-quality audio will be the defining factors for this project.
No project schedule so I hope you’re on track. However, the fact you are editing currently suggests that you will meet the rough cut deadline on Wednesday and overall deadline next month. Remember we also have three days over the Easter holiday available too if you need to re-edit anything.
I love the script opening – it’s brilliant writing, genuinely poetic. I’m assuming this is a voiceover and with good delivery it will work perfectly. What you’re missing is… everything else. A script needs to be much more than just the dialogue or voiceover – you need to describe what can be seen on screen. This means the location, atmosphere, actors etc. A natural concern with such a short block of text is that the overall production will be too short. You need to be aiming for three minutes as a minimum – below that and it’s hard to reward at the top level.
Storyboards look interesting but incomplete and no shot list worries me. There’s so much potential here but also potentially risky in terms of gaps in research and planning. As with any A2 production, multiple re-shoots may be required so be prepared. The rough cut deadline is Wednesday so we’ll know more then.

Post these tutorial notes to your MEST4 coursework blog as a new blogpost.
The rough cut deadline is Wednesday 22 March – make sure you are on track to meet this deadline.
After pasting these notes in your blogpost, write a numbered list of THREE things you will do in the next seven days in order to move your Linked Production project to the next level.
